Development issues cannot be tackled without taking into account the social, cultural and environmental realities that run through them.
Com4Dev focuses on issues where social justice, sustainability and innovation intersect. Food systems, youth and human rights, cultural and creative industries: these are just some of the fields in which the association works alongside its partners to promote collective, inclusive and sustainable transformation.
Sustainable and equitable food systems are at the heart of the major challenges of our time. They are both heavily impacted by climate change and the bearers of solutions for coping with it. Food sovereignty, sustainability of agricultural practices, resilience of rural communities: these are all issues that call for collective reflection and coordinated action.
Com4Dev works alongside its partners to contribute to these transformations.
Young people are the actors of tomorrow’s world. Yet all too often, they are still denied real access to their fundamental rights: civic participation, freedom of expression, education, decent employment and equal opportunities. Similarly, whole sections of our society are still discriminated against not only on the basis of age, but also gender and social status. Promoting and protecting human rights is an essential lever for building inclusive, resilient and democratic societies.
Com4Dev supports and promotes initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of young people, women, migrants and LGBTI+ people in the defense and exercise of human rights.
Because culture is both a fundamental right and a driver of transformation, we are working to strengthen its place at the heart of projects and policies, in line with the aspirations of communities and new generations.
The cultural and creative industries play a central role in social cohesion, dialogue between communities and economic development. They embody identities, histories and worldviews, and are a source of innovation and employment, particularly for young people and women. Yet this sector is often weakened by a lack of recognition, funding and appropriate public policies.
Com4Dev works alongside cultural players and their partners to strengthen the role of cultural industries in development dynamics.
